Thanks
to seven years of relentless dedication by 20/20 Visions of Venice
members and the Venice Area Beautification, Inc. Board of Directors,
this charrette born idea finally had its beginning stage of reality.
Then in May of 2000 work began on Segment 3 along the perimeter of
Venice High School, around the new sports complex and along the western
side of the Intracoastal Waterway nearly to the Venice Avenue Bridge.
Progress continued on this five million dollar, nearly ten mile
enhancement to our community until in May 2007 Phase I of the project
was completed. Moving forward VABI will continue to add further
amenities and connections to the VWP and other parks in the Venice area.
There are many ways you can become part of the VWP project or other VABI
projects. One way you can become involved is to join the
VABI
Enthusiasts. If sweat equity in a project is more to your
liking, we have a group called the
Pepper Patrol that will be most
anxious to put you to work. If pedaling a bike is more likely to
interest you, check out our
Trailblazer Bike Patrol. VABI has
been very fortunate being able to partner with other organizations and
entities in developing the the Venetian Waterway Park. We'd like to take
this chance to thank The City of Venice, Gulf Coast Community Foundation
of Venice, Sarasota County, WCIND, the Army Corp of Engineers and all
the other organizations and entities involved in the effort to complete
