VABI Events
VABI has two established events that Venice residents and visitors enjoy annually. New events are created each year as well, but the Boat Bash and the Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration are proven events that are recognized and enjoyed throughout the Venice area.
VABI’s Boat Bash!
Traditionally slated for the first Saturday in December, VABI’s Boat Bash is the perfect location for watching the Venice Holiday Boat Parade. The party is located at VABI’s office, the Venetian Trailhead, 257 North Tamiami Trail under the Hatchett Creek Bridge. There is an admission charge, but children are most welcome and they are free. All of the proceeds go to support VABI and their projects. The festive evening features great food, drinks, a cash bar and there’s great music to enjoy as the boats glide by decorated from stem to stern. Save the first Saturday in December and plan now to attend the 2012 VABI Boat Bash.

VABI’s Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration!

The holiday is the best time to rekindle the traditions of a community coming together to celebrate during December, this special time of year. The Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration is VABI’s gift to the city and you are invited to join them for the annual holiday celebration of lights, music and festive community spirit. Families lovingly decorate their chosen tree with specific holiday themes or to commemorate loved ones. As they decorate, they are hoping to win the prize for best decorated tree. Elementary children from area schools come and sing under the stars and twinkling lights while they await the arrival of Santa. To complete the evening, there are cookies and hot chocolate to enjoy. This is a community-centered event that is just right for families of all ages. The holiday Tree Lighting Celebration takes place the second Saturday in December at West Blalock Park on the island of Venice, one block behind the Venice Community Center.
